Malaysia’s Response
The threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is growing at an alarming rate with the misuse of antimicrobial agent as the main driver of resistance that threatens the treatment of diseases.
- In Malaysia, Infection and Antibiotic Control Programs have long been implemented in majority of the hospitals.
- In 2001, National Infection and Antibiotic Control Committee was established to coordinate this program at the National level.
- In 2017, National Antimicrobial Resistance Committee (NARC) was established as a National AMR coordinating mechanism
- Involvement of multi-agencies (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Defense, Department of Veterinary Services, Department of Fisheries, Private Sectors and Professional Bodies).
- “One Health” is use to address on the development of the Malaysian Action Plan framework.
