3-4th Oct 2022: Dr Suraya Amir Husin, the coordinator for One Health AMR for Malaysia and Dr Rohaidah Hashim the Principal Investigator from IMR and other representatives from MOH (NPHL and Hospital Selayang), Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries and Ministry of Environment & Water have attended the TRiUMPH Consortium Meeting in Utrecht, The Netherland. This meeting discussed the progress, issues and challenges in the implementation of the international collaborative research project on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) between the National Institute for Public Health and Environment, the Netherlands; University Paris- Diderot, France; Malaysia, Madagascar and Pakistan. This One Health AMR project is under the global Joint Programming Initiatives on Antimicrobial (JPIAMR) and funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada. It aims to determine the prevalence and inter-relatedness of multidrug resistant organism of ESBL E.Coli and Carbapenem resistant enterobactericeae (CRE) through detection and molecular studies in all the three related sectors, i.e. human, animal dan environmental health. The findings from this project will be used as a guide to improve the policies and procedures in the antibiotics use in human and animal health sectors.
